LUBRICANTS ·  PETRO-CANADA AUTHORIZED DISTRIBUTOR

Petro-Canada lubricants for southwestern Ontario.

DURON, DURATRAN, HYDREX, PRECISION, TRAXON, PRODURO, DURADRIVE — plus the food-grade and biodegradable lines where they belong. Supplied as an Authorized Petro-Canada Lubricants Distributor, in bulk, tote, drum, and pail, on the same route as the fuel.

01 / THE SUPPLY CHAIN

Authorized Petro-Canada Lubricants Distributor, blended at Mississauga.

The Petro-Canada Authorized Distributor program is the framework that puts the same lubricants chain behind every B&J account — engine oil, transmission, hydraulic, gear, grease, food-grade, biodegradable, and DEF, all on one rep.

  • Mississauga HT purity base oils

Petro-Canada Lubricants are blended at Mississauga from the HT purity process — Group II and Group III base oils that come out of the refinery 99.9% pure, the cleanest commercially produced in the world. The cleanliness of the base is what carries DURON through extended-drain service, what lets HYDREX hold viscosity through Ontario winters, and what makes PURITY FG defensible for incidental food contact.
  • Authorized Distributor, by name

B&J is an Authorized Petro-Canada Lubricants Distributor — the relationship that puts the full product family on one rep, with the technical support, OEM-approval documentation, and the Environmental Handling Charge chain behind every litre. The relationship is also what makes the used-oil pickup on the back end of the same account possible.

03 / FIND THE PRODUCT

Match your equipment to a Petro-Canada product.

The widget reads against the combined OEM crosswalk — every entry from agriculture and from heavy-truck fleet. Pick your OEM, your model line, and the component; the lookup returns the Petro-Canada product, the OEM spec it matches, and the status of that match: formally approved with an OEM letter on file, meets/exceeds on the category, industry-equivalent, or worth a call to the rep before switching. No quiet upgrades — the honest column is the credibility column.

Result

Pick the manufacturer, the model line, and the component.

The right Petro-Canada product, the OEM spec it matches, and an honest read on whether Petro-Canada holds a formal approval letter or not.

What the status labels mean

  • Formally approvedPetro-Canada holds a current OEM approval letter on the product.
  • Meets/exceedsPetro-Canada claims spec match; no formal OEM approval letter in hand.
  • Industry-equivalentCompatible category and grade; no specific Petro-Canada claim against this spec.
  • Verify with PCL repData is incomplete or the application is warranty-sensitive — talk to the rep first.
04 / FORMATS

Bulk, tote, drum, pail — the honest economics.

Format thresholds below are directional industry rules of thumb, not B&J’s price book. The right format for your operation depends on annual draw per fluid, where the drum or tank lives, and whether contamination control on fill and dispense is real or aspirational. New oil out of a 205 L drum often arrives at ISO 4406 21/19/16 against equipment targeting 18/16/13 — and bulk inherits the same problem without filtration in place.

  • Pail · 18.9 L

Under 200 L a year per fluid. Premium roughly 30–50% over bulk. The right unit for specialty products — PURITY FG, ENVIRON, HYDREX EXTREME, HYDREX MV Arctic 15 — and for any fluid drawn rarely enough that a sealed pail outlasts a drum on the shelf.
  • Drum · 205 L

200 to 1,500 L a year per fluid. Premium roughly 15–25% over bulk. The workhorse for engine oil and conventional hydraulic on a single-machine operation. Wheeled drum dolly, hand pump, and a clean dispensing nozzle — the discipline that keeps the next ISO 4406 particle count below the equipment target.
  • Tote · 1,000 L (IBC)

1,500 to 4,000 L a year per fluid. Premium roughly 5–10% over bulk. Gravity dispense or pump, desiccant breather on the vent. The right step for mid-size operations running through 600–1,000 L of DURATRAN over the rotation and a drum of engine oil a season.
  • Bulk tank · on-site

4,000+ L a year per fluid. Baseline pricing. Dedicated on-site dispensing equipment, supported by B&J. Filtration on fill (10-micron) and dispense (5-micron) for hydraulic; desiccant breather on the vent. Without that discipline the bulk economics go negative quickly — the savings only show up when the contamination control is actually in place.

05 / BY INDUSTRY

Same supply chain, different fleet.

The product family and the supply chain don’t change. What changes is the OEM list. The vertical pages carry the per-industry lookup with the OEM crosswalk filtered to that fleet, deeper articles on oil analysis and cold-weather hydraulic, and the format-economics conversation in operator language.

  • AGRICULTURE

    On the farm

John Deere, Case IH / New Holland, Massey Ferguson, Fendt, Challenger, Kubota — engine oil, UTTO, gear, grease, plus PURITY FG for dairy parlour service. The IVT / CVT warranty conversation is real and the rep is the right person to have it with.

  • CROSS-VERTICAL

    Mixed operations

Operations that don’t sit in a single vertical — a farm with a Class 8 truck on contract haul, a construction GC with yard equipment and pickup-chassis service trucks, a commercial property with a generator and a few pieces of off-road equipment. The combined lookup above is the recognition surface; the conversation with the rep handles the rest.

06 / USED OIL

Used oil management, end to end.

Ontario’s used-oil programme runs under Automotive Materials Stewardship as the producer responsibility organization under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016. Most SWO operations producing more than 200 litres of used oil a year qualify for free pickup.

  • 01

    What’s covered

Used engine oil, hydraulic, transmission, and gear oil. Used oil filters — spin-on and element, including hydraulic, transmission, IC engine, and fuel filters. Empty oil containers up to specified sizes. Antifreeze and antifreeze containers. Drain into clean containers; bagged drained filters go for collection.

  • 02

    Free pickup, at volume

Registered Collectors offer free pickup for generators of larger quantities. Most SWO operations producing 200+ L of used oil a year qualify. Smaller volumes drop off at any of the 17,500+ collection sites across Ontario; AMS diverts roughly 34 tonnes of these materials a day from landfill.

  • 03

Why this lives on a B&J page

As a Petro-Canada Authorized Distributor, Boucher & Jones is part of the Environmental Handling Charge chain on the supply side — the EHC is paid into the AMS system on every litre that ships out. The page can be the single point of contact for both the litres going in and the litres coming back out.

07 / FAQ

Practical questions.

01What does Authorized Petro-Canada Distributor actually mean?
It means B&J is part of the formal Petro-Canada Lubricants supply chain — not a reseller buying from a wholesaler, but a distributor with direct technical support, OEM-approval documentation, and the Environmental Handling Charge chain on every litre. The practical implication: the same products that go into a Petro-Canada owned-shop terminal land on your account, with the same product data, the same warranty conversation, and the same used-oil pickup at the back end.PCL AUTHORIZED DISTRIBUTOR PROGRAM
02Which Petro-Canada oil matches the spec in my operator manual?
Use the lookup above — it returns the Petro-Canada product, the OEM spec it matches, the format(s) it comes in, and the status of that match (formally approved with a letter on file, meets/exceeds on category, industry-equivalent, or worth a call before switching). For the warranty-sensitive cells (John Deere IVT, CNH CVT, Cummins X15 extended drain, Navistar A26), the rep is the right person to read your operator manual against your warranty status before any change.PCL DURON / DURATRAN / TRAXON OEM APPROVAL MATRICES
03What is HT purity and why does it matter?
HT purity is the hydrocracking process Petro-Canada uses at Mississauga to produce Group II and Group III base oils. The output is 99.9% pure — the cleanest base oil commercially produced in the world. That base is what carries DURON through extended-drain service under oil analysis, what lets HYDREX hold viscosity through Ontario winters, and what makes PURITY FG defensible for incidental food contact under NSF H1. The chemistry is the same whether you’re running a 6R tractor or a Class 8 tractor.PCL HT PURITY PROCESS
04What size container should I buy?
Annual draw per fluid is the deciding number. Pails (18.9 L) make sense under 200 L a year per fluid — specialty products and rarely-drawn fluids stay here. Drums (205 L) cover 200–1,500 L a year per fluid — the workhorse for engine oil on a single-machine operation. Totes (1,000 L) cover 1,500–4,000 L a year. Bulk tank wins above roughly 4,000 L a year per fluid, but only if filtration on fill and dispense is in place — without it, bulk inherits the same contamination problem as drum service and the economics go backward.INDUSTRY FORMAT-ECONOMICS RULES OF THUMB · ISO 4406
05Do you carry food-grade and biodegradable lubricants?
Yes — the full PURITY FG line (NSF H1 registered for incidental food contact, Kosher Pareve, Halal, much of it ISO 21469 certified) and ENVIRON (OECD 301B readily biodegradable, certified greater than 60% biodegradation in 28 days). PURITY FG belongs on dairy parlour and feed-handling lubrication points specifically; ENVIRON belongs on equipment working near a watercourse, a port, or a storm drain. The page is here to scope where these products belong, not to replace everything with the premium grade.NSF H1 · ISO 21469 · OECD 301B
06Will my used oil get picked up?
Yes, for most SWO operations. Ontario’s used-oil programme runs under Automotive Materials Stewardship (AMS) as the producer responsibility organization under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016. Registered Collectors offer free pickup for generators of larger quantities — most operations producing 200+ L a year qualify. Smaller volumes drop off at any of the 17,500+ collection sites in the province. The same B&J account that supplies the lubricants can coordinate the pickup.AMS · USEDOILRECYCLING.COM · RRCEA 2016
07Can I get lubricants on the same account as diesel and propane?
Yes — that’s the default. One rep on the lubricants line, the same one who runs the diesel and the propane. Bulk lubricants on the same truck as the next fuel delivery where the volumes line up; totes, drums, and pails on the standing route. One invoice if you want it.OPERATIONS
