CARDLOCK ·  SUPERPASS · PETRO-PASS NETWORK

Cardlock fuel for southwestern Ontario operators.

The SuperPass card on our five owned Petro-Pass sites — Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Fergus, and Stratford — and 300+ more Petro-Pass cardlocks across Canada. Plus Petro-Canada retail and US truck stops on the same card. One rep on the account, the posted day rate at the pump is the rate that lands on the invoice.

01 / WHERE IT FITS

Where cardlock fits.

Cardlock fits some operations cleanly. Others want a different shape.

Cardlock is the right call

  • Drivers on mixed or unpredictable routes, fuelling along the way
  • Owner-operators and small fleets under six trucks
  • Unattended 24/7 access — weekends, holidays, the middle of the night
  • Cross-border runs that need one card at US truck stops
  • Per-driver, per-vehicle, and per-grade card controls set once
  • Exception monitoring and instant card lock on the program
  • DEF at the pump for newer SCR engines
  • Farm-plated trucks that need to run clear diesel alongside the coloured on the farm

Something else fits better

  • Six or more units at one yard with predictable burn — on-site refuelling fits cleaner
  • A single yard running a TSSA-certified storage tank — bulk into the tank is cheaper per litre
  • Off-road equipment that never leaves the job site — on-site or a fuel cube fits
  • A short-duration project on portable equipment — a fuel cube refilled by bulk delivery

02 / THE CARD AND THE NETWORK

SuperPass is the card. Petro-Pass is the network.

Two trade names, two different things. The card is the fleet credit card issued by Petro-Canada. The network is the unattended cardlock footprint it runs on. The same card also works at Petro-Canada retail stations and US truck stops, on one statement.

  • SuperPass is the card

The Petro-Canada fleet credit card. PIN-protected, no signature, no cash. Configurable per driver, per vehicle, or per single station. The card itself is administered through SuperPass Online by Suncor; the account, the invoicing, and the rep sit with Boucher & Jones.
  • Petro-Pass is the network

The unattended, 24/7 cardlock network the card runs on — 300+ sites across Canada. Our five owned Petro-Pass sites in Waterloo (155 Roger St), Cambridge, Guelph (504 Imperial Rd), Fergus, and Stratford (191 Frederick St — 24/7 with clear and dyed diesel) are part of that footprint and the local backbone for a southwestern Ontario operator.
  • The same card runs on more than the cardlock

The SuperPass card also works at 1,500+ Petro-Canada retail stations across Canada and at 270+ US truck stops on the TA-Petro network. One card, one statement, one rep on the account. The cross-country fill-up and the southwestern Ontario cardlock visit land on the same statement.
  • We issue the card and we answer the phone

Boucher & Jones is one of Petro-Canada’s authorized wholesale marketers. The SuperPass account sits with us — we set up the card, we structure the pricing, we send the invoice, and we take the call when there’s a question on a transaction. The portal is national; the rep on the account is local.

03 / HOW THE CARD ACTUALLY WORKS

What the card does at the pump, and what the portal does behind it.

  • Card controls a fleet manager actually uses

Driver-PIN, vehicle-PIN, or single-station card. Per-driver and per-vehicle limits by dollar or by volume. Per-transaction caps. Grade restrictions (diesel-only cards prevent gasoline mistakes). Time-of-day and day-of-week windows. Optional odometer prompt at the pump.
  • Posted rate is the invoice rate

Our owned cardlocks run a posted day rate — the rate the driver fuelled at is the rate that lands on the invoice. The pricing structure on the account (locked, rack-plus, or off the posted price) is set once with the fleet manager, so the driver never has to think about it at the pump and the controller is not waiting two days to learn what the fuel cost.
  • Instant lock from the portal

Cards can be suspended or cancelled instantly through SuperPass Online, 24/7. Exception monitoring flags unusual transactions automatically. One-time passcode (OTP) sent to the driver’s phone is available for the routes that warrant it.
  • One invoice, transaction-level detail

Owned cardlocks, the Petro-Pass network, Petro-Canada retail, and US truck stops — all on one statement. CSV and Excel export from SuperPass Online for the controller. The named rep on the account handles statement questions on the same dispatch line, day or night.

04 / BY INDUSTRY

Who runs the card.

Cardlock isn’t industry-specific by design — what changes is the shape of the fleet running it. The three operations below are the most common shapes in southwestern Ontario; yours probably resembles one or sits between two.

  • OWNER-OPERATOR · 1–5 TRUCKS

    The owner-operator or small fleet

You home-park, or you run a small fleet on irregular routes. The card works on the five owned sites locally and the full network on the road, at a per-litre rate set against the posted day price.

    • Equipment mix
      Tractors, pickups, service trucks
    • Alternative
      Retail fill-ups, pay-as-you-go
    • Best when
Fewer than six trucks, mixed routes
    Cardlock for southwestern Ontario fleets
  • REGIONAL CARRIER · 10–100 TRUCKS

    The regional fleet manager

Mixed routes, multiple drivers, reporting and fraud prevention at the centre of the program. Card controls per driver and per vehicle, exception monitoring on, and a monthly statement that exports cleanly to the TMS.

    • Equipment mix
      Tractors, straight trucks, service
    • Alternative
Cardlock plus a side bulk supplier
    • Best when
Mixed routes, reporting at the centre
    Commercial & fleet overview
  • AGRICULTURE · FARM-PLATED TRUCKS

The farm-plated truck off the cardlock

Coloured diesel runs the field equipment, but a farm-plated truck has to run clear under the Highway Traffic Act — that’s where the cardlock comes in. The same B&J account that delivers coloured to the on-farm tank carries the plated trucks on a SuperPass card, one statement.

    • Equipment mix
      Clear for the farm-plated truck
    • Pairing
Alongside coloured-diesel bulk on the same account
    • Best when
Mixed-equipment farms with a plated truck or two
    Coloured diesel for the farm
05 / FAQ

Practical questions.

01What’s the difference between SuperPass and Petro-Pass?
SuperPass is the card. Petro-Pass is the network. SuperPass is the Petro-Canada fleet credit card a fleet manager sets up for a driver, with PINs and limits and grade restrictions configured per card. Petro-Pass is the national footprint of 300+ unattended 24/7 cardlock sites the card runs on — our five owned sites in Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Fergus, and Stratford among them. The same card also works at 1,500+ Petro-Canada retail stations and 270+ US truck stops on the TA-Petro network, on one statement.PETRO-CANADA SUPERPASS · PETRO-PASS CARDLOCK PAGES
02What does the cardlock cost per litre?
Our owned cardlocks use a posted day rate — the rate the driver fuelled at is the rate that lands on the invoice. They’re off-highway industrial-zone sites, which tend to price tighter than highway service-centre cardlocks. The pricing structure on the account is set once with the fleet manager: locked rate, rack-plus formula, or a fixed discount off the posted price. Whichever structure your account is on, the driver doesn’t need to think about it at the pump, and the controller doesn’t wait two days to learn what the fuel cost.OPERATIONS · OUR OWNED PETRO-PASS CARDLOCKS
03What card controls can I set?
PIN type — driver, vehicle, or single-station. Per-card limits by dollar or by volume, daily, weekly, or monthly. Per-transaction caps. Grade restrictions, so a diesel-only card refuses a gasoline pump. Time-of-day and day-of-week windows. Optional odometer prompt at the pump for unit reporting. One-time passcode (OTP) to the driver’s phone for routes that warrant it. Everything is set once in SuperPass Online and enforced at the pump.SUPERPASS ONLINE · PETRO-CANADA SUPERPASS SMART TOOLS
04How fast can I cancel a lost or stolen card?
Instantly, through SuperPass Online, 24/7. Exception monitoring flags suspicious transactions automatically — out-of-route fill-ups, off-hours activity, dollar amounts outside the card’s usual envelope — and the card can be suspended or cancelled in one click. The rep on the account can do it for you on the dispatch line if you’re not at a screen.SUPERPASS ONLINE · EXCEPTION MONITORING
05Is DEF available at cardlock?
At most Petro-Pass diesel sites, yes — Air1 DEF at the pump. The card pays for the DEF the same way it pays for the diesel and it lands on the same invoice. Per-site DEF coverage on the network varies; the rep can tell you which of our owned sites and which sites along your routes carry it before you set up the account.ISO 22241 · PETRO-CANADA AIR1
06Can I run coloured diesel at cardlock?
Off-road equipment can take coloured diesel where it’s carried. Our Stratford cardlock (191 Frederick Street) is the owned site in our footprint that carries both clear and coloured diesel, 24/7. A licensed vehicle of any kind — service van, half-ton, plated truck — runs on clear diesel only. The Ministry rule is the same one it has always been: clear in anything that carries a plate, coloured only in unlicensed off-road equipment.FUEL TAX ACT S. 2(7.1) · R.R.O. 1990 REG. 464
07Can I get cardlock alongside on-site refuelling or bulk delivery?
Yes — that’s a common shape. A fleet account where the yard runs on-site refuelling for the heavy units and the plated trucks fuel mid-route off the SuperPass card. A farm account where the on-farm tank takes coloured and the farm-plated truck takes clear off the cardlock. One supplier, one rep, one invoice if you want it.OPERATIONS
